Lashawn Ames

LaShawn Ames is a seasoned fundraising professional with over three decades of experience in resource development, focusing on grassroots organizations. Specializing in U.S. Department of Education program funding as well as youth development funding,  she has successfully secured over $13 million in external funding from state, federal, foundation, corporate, and individual sources. LaShawn has leveraged her expertise to secure mid to large-size funding to address disparities in financial support for small and emerging nonprofits.

Her comprehensive skill set includes prospect research, proposal development, project management, proposal writing, and program evaluation. As a consultant, she has worked with small, mid-sized and large nonprofit youth development organizations, providing services such as crafting grant proposals for new programs, ongoing fundraising guidance, and development work. She also conducts external evaluations for federally-funded programs across the United States.

In addition to her fundraising achievements, LaShawn has launched organizational websites and e-newsletters, supporting the development of summer, after-school, and arts-in-education programs. She is a graduate of Boston University and a dedicated 42-year member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., actively participating in the Brooklyn Alumnae Chapter. LaShawn is also a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals
